<< Rachel Bennett was also the creative mind behind "Puerto de Elite" A stunning poolside rooftop lounge and restaurant. Rachel was comissioned by a company headed by an Abu Dhabi sheikh to establish a brand, PR and design for the empty venue located in Dubai Marina around the poolside of The Address hotel which is owned by Emaar hospitality. Rachel created 'Puerto de Elite' - Port of the Elite a stunning open air concept serving tapas and founded around mediteranean al fresco dining and music. Post completion the venue was a dream however the company's project was handicapped from start to finish. Residential and hotel rooms facing the venue called for a music ban and loss of music license. The hotel kept Rachel's design and reverted back to their basic pool bar name and standard operation. It was impossible for the company to continue trading as 'puerto'  or generate trade without a  music license.

Organisation is the most important attribute when planning events or venues; just one flaw or oversight (as witnessed in the Puetro debacle) and BOOM! it's game over.

 

People may think that planning events is easy but the reality is that it is incredibly hard. I pedantically check every aspect entertainment, service, decor, the smallest thing such as lack of parking or security can destroy an event. The only aspect that the event planner should not have under control is force majeure and even then a seasoned event planner will have a plan B as back up. 

 

I'm ecstatic that I no longer (or very rarely) plan events myself. For my TFC clients I recruit and oversee the event planner, using my experience to place the right planner with the right event for optimal results." RB
