It may be very easy to use a flashy publicity stunt to fool the general public; for example a celebrity at a product launch but if your product does not meet up to your company's marketing campaign - you're in trouble. Getting 'ink' or publicity doesnt mean that your brand's credibility or reputation would be enhanced. Getting publicity really just means that your brand is getting out there. I never take on a project unless i believe in the person or product; to do so would be futile.
"The simplest analogy I can think of and one which always makes me smile is that of a girl based in Dubai. One day out of the blue she attempted to give me some 'advice' on content I had posted on my facebook. She told me that I should remove it because it didn't look good and 'guys don't like it' ; I nearly fell off my chair laughing (she's Moroccan it's their life mission to please men. Performing monkey) however I let her continue. It would appear that in her educated opinion (as a trained flight stewardess/ "model") this was not a suitable means to attract men. I thought about this then (as a matter of research) examined her page where I found the standard bikini pictures, travel pictures , shopping pictures - yes, all looked very 'high class' - the beach bikini photoshoot she'd comissioned of herself and her job role listed as 'business and media executive' - it all looked believable . Only for the fact that I knew the girl and that her greatest life achievement was which guy had opened the most bottles of Dom P in the club. - In this case her personal Publicity on social media was phenomenal although entirely fabricated. Public relation would be an epic fail for her as she holds zero credibility, no story. Real men, real people with intelligence do not fall for the charade; and therefore; the type of men she was so desperate to attract are cut-from-a-different-cloth to any I wish to meet. Such people are found out easily ;business people always check out credibility and the reliability of a source. In order to generate good public relations you must first have a tangible story. Just because someone wears a suit and has a facebook picture with a private jet , shopping bags and wearing a blazer does not make them any less of a fraud. When you work hard for something on your own merit you can behave and act disgracefully! or any which way you please you do not have to create a fake character to attract men. To check your source, story and credibiility is the No 1. PR rule. Who are you? and What have you achieved? " RB

PR and Publicity
Many people use the terms 'PR' and ''publicity' interchangeably but they are iinfact two very different equations.
In an era where social media is king and everyone seems to be their own publicist, bombarding facebook, instagram, twitter with posts relating to themselves 'selfie' being the oxford dictionary definition. We must remember that this 'publicity' holds no ground as 'PR' Public relations.
Public Relations is 'the strategic crafting of your story. Its the focused examination of your interactions and tactics that when combined determine what and how people talk about you'
It is said that everything begins with a good story and public relations is about tellng it well. Successful PR must be tangible and credible.
